The A182 f347 blind flanges is manufactured from niobium stabilized austenitic stainless steel grade. Niobium has been added to the 347 stainless steel flanges in order to suppress grain boundary Chromium Carbide precipitation in the alloy. These a182 f347 flanges are known for their good general corrosion resistance properties. Flanges produced from this grade somewhat have better corrosion resistance in strong oxidizing conditions than 321 (UNS S32100).
The ASTM a182 f347 flanges ANSI b16.5 has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after being exposed to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range. The temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range are between 800°F – 1500°F. The ASTM a182 f347 flange alloy tends to have good oxidation resistance and good creep strength even at elevated temperatures like 1500°F. Similarly, the ASTM a182 grade f 347 also possesses good toughness at low temperatures. A higher carbon version of the stainless steel 347 flanges, i.e. the Alloy 347H was developed for enhanced creep resistance. Apart from this, the high carbon version of the ASTM a182 gr f347 is meant for applications where higher strength is required at elevated temperatures above 1000°F.
